Audio Driver for Aurora R6

I just upgraded from an X51 R1 and was wondering how to get a better audio driver. On the X51 I was able to change various options such as bass, create custom audio profiles, etc. However, on the Aurora R6, that amazing driver was replaced with Alienware Audio which is too low(audio and bass) and can't be customized.

Yes, that is correct for Aurora-R6. It's just standard Realtek on-board audio.

Now-days I use (on various systems):
1. Standard on-board stereo analog audio (standard 2.0 or 2.1 PC speaker sets)

2. USB gaming headsets that come with their own "sound card" ... so, their own drivers and control panels

3. In Home Theater ... it's all HDMI so I use Onkyo 7.1 AVR and Polk Audio Speakers and SubWoofer

Anyone serious about audio is going to do 2-3 above, buy a real sound-card (Creative, etc.), or I've even heard of pros using external sound-card boxes. Multi-Channel PCM (and digital bit-steam) from #3 above will blow-you-away (even with cheap HTiB if in small room). Go ahead and crank-it-up dude.

So, looks like no MaxxAudio . But i think that was really just an equalizer or maybe high-sampling.  You can set most of that in Control Panel / Sound.

If you can be more clear about your actual needs, objectives, or what gear you are trying to connect ... I'm sure that between the group here, we can steer you in the right direction.

Hi,

Are you referring to the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver below?

Yes, I even tried installing driver I was using on my old X51 and it was the same, extremely low sound. I've tried both newer and older drivers, even went to realtek's site to download the latest driver, they all have them same issue, extremely low sound. I'm assuming the low sound and the inability to modify treble or bass is due to MaxxAudio not being there as I've been told MaxxAudio boost sound output.

-Edit-

This is what the audio controls looked like on my Alienware X51 R1

This is what it looks like now

I guess a better question would be how do I get MaxxAudio back.

we've had similar Thread a few Months back. we thought that the Alienware Audio was the actual Realtek Driver with Alienware Interface. the Guy was not able to get rid of the Interface, so i told him to Download and install a different Driver for his Audio Chip.

try to install the Driver posted by Alienware-Rodrigo. please keep us posted. i'd like to know if it worked or not.

That driver had the same issue, none of the MAXXAudio features are available.

i know what you are looking for but i'm not sure if it's possible to install that Feature on your Machine. maybe it's already there but the Name is different. Sound Blaster or Sonic Radar for Example.  Tesla1856 owns  this Model and maybe he can tell you more about it.

I'm currently using a HyperX Cloud as my main headset and also have a old pair of Turtle Beach X12 as a spare. I'm just looking for a way to make the improve audio quality. Currently, the audio is low, isn't clear, sounds muffled and there is too much bass and too little treble. Also it sounds like sometimes the volume of vocals within a track will be constantly raised and lowered, or it might just be the bass overpowering them(I've only noticed this for a select few Dark Souls 3 tracks).

I'd be willing to try getting a sound card or a USB gaming headset with one built in, however I don't know any that are both cheap(less than $120) and good.

Well, first you might want to make sure it's not just the headsets. Test on other device like MP3 player. Keep good notes about which headset sets good or not and where. If poor sound still points to Aurora, be sure to try back ports as well.

If you just want headsets working, not sure I would invest in PCIe Addin Sound-Card since most headsets are USB. I have a pair of Plantronics GameCom 780  that still work good (looks like 788 is current model).

If your analog headsets test good, as one last chance to protect your investment in them ... you can try converting them the USB with this cheap USB-Sound-Card (uses drivers built-into the OS).

Here is a recent analog audio troubleshooting thread. While is was mostly about speakers and surround sound, you might be able to pick-up some tips.

Thanks for the advice, i'll try picking up a USB sound card and see how it works.

I also had another question if you don't mind answering it, I got my R6 with liquid cooling but it doesn't show the CPU pump status on the thermal controls. I'm also unable to change the CPU Cooler cooler speed, it's always going at around 5050 RPM regardless of whether its at 100% or 0%(It's the same with auto as well).

Fan speed at 0%

Fan speed at 100%

My Aurora-R6 came with 850w PS and Liquid Cooler also. I'm running Alienware Command Center v4.6.2.0.

My Thermal Control does not show CPU Cooler. It appears that yours is showing the (constant rpm) pump impeller speed.

Mine just shows Front and Top fan. Top fan should be the fan on the Liquid-Cooler's radiator.

I like the Universal USB to headset adapters.

No drivers needed.  You get Iphone compatible headsets.  Then use a single adapter cable.  The reason for this is WHEN they break you just buy a new headset.

Logitech H111 seems to be the best for the money.  You can buy more expensive ones but in the end they all die.
