Alienware X51 R3 Upgrade to GTX 1080 - Possible?
I would like to upgrade my X51 R3 to a GTX 1080, would I need to buy the Graphics Amplifier for this or would the card fit in the unit itself? Also with my system specs would this be possible? I have listed my specs below.
Intel I7-6700K OC'd to 4.4 Ghz
16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 Non-Ecc
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (This is what I want to upgrade)
330w External Power Adaptor
Windows 10 Pro
Stock Motherboard (I don't know the model)

Thanks in advance.

Theoretically it is possible, however Dell-Chris M has stated none of the X-51 series computers will be validated to support the 10x0 series graphics cards from Nvidia. I think the amplifier can, however I can't find the FAQ that officially stated it. Regardless I would use the amplifier anyway.

I can confirm that what DELL Chris M said is true, and that the Amplifier does support the 1080. We even have a video on our main YT channel of a laptop with it and running VR.
