Alienware x51 R2 Keeps crashing.
Hello, since the start of September, my alienware x51 r2 has started crashing. It would randomly freeze for a moment, then turn off. When I attempted to start it back up, the fans would start for about 3 seconds, then it would turn off again. This would sometimes repeat, until it managed to start again. At first, I thought it was because I was running a lot of programs while playing CS:GO, but then it started to happen when i was browsing youtube. It started happening more frequently and now it doesn't start without me plugging the power cable out of the back and leaving it for about 10 minutes.
Is this a failing GPU or a power supply error?
Specs: Windows 8.1,
Intel core i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
16GB RAM (2x 8GB)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 (4 GB)
Thanks for any opinions or helpful information you may have. Dean.

might not be the reason....i have an x51 r1 and the power cord to the vid card if not tucked away into metal slot properly hit into the video card fan....made my x51 freeze and crash.
might not be reason ...but worth a look...some times its an easy fix.

Having exactly the same issue with our x51 R2.
It has only recently happened (during September as you've described). It had been running perfectly for 24 months beforehand.
No hardware changes have been made.
No extra software has been installed this month, however there was a Windows 10 update on September 13 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/12387/windows-10-update-history)
The computer is idle when the computer crashes and attempts to reboot. I've ran stress tests and hardware checks with success and no crashes.
Crashes happen randomly within an hour of use. Sometimes showing a BSOD, sometimes shutting down without any error.
I've tried; dusting the internals, swapping power adapters/sockets, updating all drivers and BIOS, using "balanced power" setting, turning off AlienFX.

Sounds like we have the same problem, I also got mine around 2 years ago. Does yours happen randomly or is it while you are playing games?
I swapped the BIOS in boot settings around (forget what its called, know barely anything about this stuff) and that seemed to work temporarily,
Try swapping out the GPU for another one for a few days, see if its fixed.
