Problem with bios 1.26.1 in my dell g16 7630

A few days ago, when I turned off my laptop using the power button, I saw that during the shutdown process, the fan speed increased significantly and the keyboard backlight remained on. After a few seconds, the laptop itself turned on. Now, the only way I found was to enter the advance option space through recovery options and click the shutdown option to turn it off. There is no BIOS version. And I can't downgrade, so what's the solution?

This isn't just you, there is a bug in the new BIOS that conflicts with the USB 3.1 controller driver. If you disable your 3.1 controller, you will be able to shut down. More info in this thread:

Dell needs to send out another BIOS update to fix the issues in 1.26.1 (Hopefully they do it soon, since they caused the issue in the first place).

Run the diagnostics on the system to see if that will show anything going on.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

Hello,

I own a Dell G16 7630 and I am experiencing a critical issue after updating to the latest BIOS (1.26 / 1.26.1).

When I select Shut Down, the system does not power off – it restarts every single time.
This happens regardless of whether I shut down from the Start menu, the lock screen, or using the shutdown /s /f /t 0 command.

Fast Startup is disabled.

All drivers, chipset, and firmware are fully up to date using Dell SupportAssist.

The problem is not related to Windows configuration: Event Viewer logs confirm the firmware itself is sending a restart instruction.

The issue started immediately after the BIOS update.

I have confirmed on Reddit and in this Dell Community forum that many other G16 7630 owners are facing the exact same problem after updating to BIOS 1.26.1

This is clearly a BIOS regression introduced by Dell’s update. Since Dell has locked rollback to earlier BIOS versions, we are unable to restore a working system ourselves.

We urgently need Dell to acknowledge this as a firmware bug and provide a corrected BIOS (1.27 or later) to fix the shutdown failure.

Please escalate this issue.

Thank you.
