Inspiron N5030, ram upgrade
Inspiron 15 N5030
Hi there,
I have a 10 year old Dell inspiron N5030. It was my first laptop and I have been using it for a long time, I have decided to upgrade the RAM of the laptop since it was using up 80% of ram to run the OS after installing the non-supported Windows 11 by bypassing the system requirements. It says that it supports 4GB of RAM. And says it has two slots. I would like to ask if the total RAM of both the slots in total should be 4GB or can I install 4GB in both of the slots.
Also I found this on Amazon and wanted to know if this will support my Laptop -
- EVM 4GB DDR3 Laptop RAM 1333MHz So-DIMM Memory - Boost Laptop Speed and Performance with Low Latency and Durable Design - 10-Years Warranty (EVMT4G1333S86P)

Yes, you may install two x 4 GB sticks, for a total of 8 GB.
I am unable to find EVM RAM on Amazon US or Canada. If you want to try a relatively unknown brand, ask about their return/refund policy in case it doesn't work in your laptop.
Here is Crucial RAM that is guaranteed to work in your laptop. If you buy another brand, get one with the same latency figure as the Crucial. That Crucial RAM's latency is 11, and extended timings are 11-11-11.
Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. It's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard. (Repeatedly touching a metal case part is not sufficient mitigation with modern components.)
