Inspiron 7501 (win 11) and WD15 dock
Yesterday I removed my Inspiron laptop from my desk and dock to work in another room. Today, I've returned to my desk to work and connected it to the dock and it doesn't recognise the dock at all, so no ethernet or 2-monitor display.
I've tried updating the drivers for the dock via connecting an XPS13 to it and even updated its BIOS. It all works fine with the XPS, no issues. Plug in the Inspiron again and not recognised.
I find it so frustrating as it was working fine all week, in and out of the dock and now nothing. Doesn't even charge via the usb-c cable.
So doesn't seem to be any issues with the dock as it works with my XPS running Win 10, so the issues must be with the Inspiron.
Anyone else had a similar issues and been able to overcome it? Thanks in advance.

If you have another USB-C dock or device to try, that would be next - it sounds very much like the USB-C controller chip may have failed.

Is what you're saying that the dock once did work but no longer does?

Yes, worked up until yesterday. I unplugged it to work in another room. Plugged back in this morning doesn't work. Bizzare. It's not the dock as I tested another laptop with it and it worked fine.

Thanks ejn63, I think you've solved it. I just plugged my phone into the socket and it didn't pick it up nor charge it. :( At least I now know what's wrong. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
