Inspiron 1520 SSD

Hi! I have on my hand a Dell Inspiron 1520 with a old Western Digital "160GB" that is for real a 100GB, and since yesterday it does not want to boot anymore.

i also have in my possession a SamSung SSD 850 PRO 256GB, my only "Small" HDD/SSD that have a windows 7 already in there. when i try to boot it while inserting it in my PC, the Laptop starts to beep and it give me a message that is, i dont have any bootable drive in there. anybody know why and how to solve?

Edit: this Samsung can boot on my two Desktop

The system is designed for a 9.5 mm hard drive -- the SSD is appreciably slimmer.  It likely won't connect to the system board without the use of a shim.
