Inspiron 15 3515, broken hinges
Inspiron 15 3515
Approximately 18 months after purchasing my Dell laptop, the hinges suddenly broke, rendering the device unusable. Upon contacting Dell customer support to address this issue, I was informed that repairing the hinges would be a paid service, despite the fact that the laptop is still well within the warranty period. I was further disappointed to learn that this issue is not isolated to my laptop alone. Dell acknowledges that some of their products have faulty hinges during certain periods, yet they refuse to provide a resolution without additional charges. I find it unacceptable to bear the cost of repairing a manufacturing defect. It is evident that this issue stems from a flaw in the design or manufacturing process, and customers should not be held accountable for the consequences. I urge Dell to reconsider their stance on this matter and provide a fair and satisfactory resolution. Whether it involves replacing the faulty hinges or providing a replacement laptop, I trust that Dell will prioritize customer satisfaction and uphold their commitment to quality and reliability.

Hi everyone,
If you're experiencing issues with the hinges on your Dell system, please contact Dell support, even if your system is out of warranty. While we cannot guarantee that any actions will be taken, a tech support agent will review your system's condition and make a decision accordingly.
Please reach out to our tech support by clicking the "Get Help Now" chat button located at the bottom right corner of this page. Our agents will determine if your case qualifies for an extended warranty.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

My hinge broke and cracked the bezel around the screen. The laptop is still usable but I'm afraid to close it rendering is not portable.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 in April 2024. Both my hinges cracked causing the laptop to be unstable and really unusable. Reading the other comments, I see that Dell is not willing to fix the laptop for free even though this is clearly a problem with their equipment. I told myself to purchase a MacBook should of followed my first mind smh.

@DELL-Nat M I have hinge issues as well. Have contacted before to no avail. Now second hinge broke. As far as I'm concerned Dell is unresponsive and poor quality.
Looking for a way to use with broken hinges until I can purchase new from competitor.

@Savedmdb I also have the same broken hinge problem. I lived with it until the screen started to get a black spot on the side with the broken hinge. It got worse until the screen was unusable. I have had many Dell computers over the years, but this is ridiculous. I now have an ASUS laptop.
