G15 5530 Wireless Disappearing entirely, with error codes in Device Manager.
Dell G15 5530
Hello all,
I have been having this weird issue where my wireless will completely disappear randomly throughout the day. It sometimes occurs after a shutdown and restart, and sometimes occurs after sleeping the computer and turning it back on, but it is not consistent.
It will display something like "There is an issue with this device" with an error code, although 2 different error codes get displayed at random times. I believe one of them is error 43, although I would need to wait for the problem to occur again to confirm.
The fix I've found is to play with the Wireless drivers settings (Intel Wi-Fi Ax201 160MHz) in device manager. For example, I will change the first setting under "Advanced" from "6. Dual Band 802.11a/b/g
" to the 5th option, and then back to the 6th option, and *sometimes* that works. Occasionally I need to play with the other settings as well, like changing the second wireless mode to "802.11ac" instead of "...ax". Once I can get the device working, I can reset it to the default values with no issues.
So I am very confused. The driver is up to date, the whole computer is up to date in terms of BIOS updates, and really anything listed under "Drivers" that is labelled "critical", along with many of the other drivers for bluetooth/wifi, audio, etc. Typically when this issue occurs other things will go wrong as well, like my Realtek Audio output going away (aka, my speakers and headphone jack will not work). I am relatively well versed in computers, I can solve 99% of computers issues given enough time, but even after a year of trying to solve this issue, nothing is consistent.
Other possibly important information:
- This issue (I believe) exclusively occurs at my college. They use "eduroam" for their WiFi, which I believe is widely used across the US at colleges.
- I am on Windows 10 Pro as I dislike all the crap that Windows 11 Pro has on it. I can not confirm that this issue occurs on windows 11 as I switched to 10 very quickly after getting the computer.
- I removed a lot of the software that is "recommended", such as the Alienware stuff, as I prefer to have less stuff (bloat) on my computer.
- I upgraded to 32GB of RAM not too long ago, and added a 1TB SSD (following the manual to a tee, and being aware of static discharge), but this issue was occurring prior to doing this, so I believe it should be unrelated.
Regardless, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading this long post.

@DexGamer Those solutions may work, although, after I removed the wireless chip, cleaned the connections, and the slot (using isopropyl for the pins on the wifi chip, and compressed air for the port) I've had no issues for a few months now.
Some things to note that I saw on the chip:
The pins seemed to be scratched despite me very carefully removing the chip, pointing to a possible manufacturing error during the installation process. So, I would assume a poor connection is causing a disconnect, and therefore unexpected behavior from the chip. Given that all of the setting changes that you mentioned do not work for a consistent amount of time for me (from personal experience, I tried many different solutions including adding the "disable turn off of this device" in the registry, and changing many different power options for the wifi chip in device manager), the only solid conclusion / solution I can confidently say would work for most people is to remove the wifi chip, clean it, and reconnect it. Thankfully, Dell outlines this process in the user manual, and users can do this without voiding warranty or anything.

AX201 and AX211 have recently experienced this problem, not just Dell, and there are currently various solutions.
1,The machine discharges static electricity
2,Disable the network card and restart, then enable the network card after restarting
3,Update the latest Microsoft drivers
4,Open Device Manager - Properties - Advanced - Open 802.11/ac/a wireless mode and change the value to 5GHz 802.11
After modification, check whether the network is restored in the lower right corner. If it is restored, switch back (dual-band 802.11a/b/g).
Then go to the device manager to disable AX201/AX211 and then enable it again to restore.
5,This problem may also be caused by increased temperature.
The above solution, it will reoccur. I am confused. Hope others can give some new ideas

@niko_ke Since You mentioned the reason why it is happening I can help we may just need to Perform a Cold reboot after following your steps or for Better 5g wifi keep in 802.11 5g and prefer 5ghz band
So To perform a Cold reboot we might First Need to Drain The whole battery by using it make sure devices like usb mouse n all are disconnected and just let the battery go to 0 percent
Then hold the power button for 15-30 seconds this drains all The energy remaining .
Thanks For the temporary Solution tho and this solution might help to be away from that issue atleast 1 month! cuz all the energy is getting discharged!

@niko_ke Bro the best solution is to make a sure that your Earthing is alright in the house or get a plugpoint with an earthing else it can't release the static electricity ✅

Go to 192.168.1.1 in any web browser except chrome idk why chrome doesn't work and see the router settings of ac ax an a/b/g and set The Intel wireless properties according to that!

@Ryan_OF Sorry Yall for being so inactive i was busy testing to see what fixes the issue Well as per my experience its due to the power issue That Our house plugpoints can not provide the high amount of Power required by the laptop so ax201 gets disabled to save power here's what i found
Simple Fixes for internet issues
•Turn off Fast start up
• Forget your wifi from settings and again reconnect but do not tick connect automatically this lets the drivers load properly
• in power options advanced settings u might see Pcie Settings keep that values to never or wireless adapter keep it to Never too
• allow laptop to rest for 10mins after start
•While Starting Connect the Adapter and make sure no usb devices are connected while Starting so that don't Mess up with the power and disable ax201
