Dell G15 5530 BIOS version 1.23.0

I’m experiencing serious performance issues with the new Dell G15 5530 BIOS version 1.23.0 after updating. I tried to downgrade, but it’s not allowed and the system blocks any attempt to revert the BIOS version.

I’ve encountered several problems with all external devices connected to the USB ports on the machine:

  1. The mouse cursor stutters while moving.
  2. The keyboard backlight keeps turning on and off repeatedly.
  3. When I plug in an external HDD, some other devices connected to the USB ports get disconnected.
  4. My speakers produce crackling sounds during deep bass and heavy output. I’ve tested two identical speaker sets, and both have the same issue on this laptop—but they work perfectly fine when connected to another PC.

At the moment, the system is nearly unusable. Is there a new BIOS update available? I noticed that version 1.23.0 has been removed from Dell’s official website, which suggests this version may have serious issues.

Before looking for a downgrade, unplug the system and disconnect the main battery from the mainboard.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.  Then reassemble and check the system - it's very possible that there is corrupt information in the CMOS that's causing the issue.

@ejn63

I checked with ChatGPT and, based on my knowledge, the issue I mentioned is unlikely to be caused by the CMOS battery. Others have also reported the same problem with the new BIOS version 1.23.0: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/1jwylku/dell_g15_5530_new_bios_1230/.

What I need to know is what happened with this version, as Dell has quietly removed it from their official website

If Dell cannot resolve the issue within a reasonable timeframe, I may file a formal complaint to request either a full refund or a system replacement, as the laptop is still under warranty.

@DELL-Nat M

I have there question. Would appreciate if you can answer.

1). Do you know what will be the  corrective bios version be. Will it be 1.23.0 or another version.

2). After following your solution. Will i have the ability to downgrade the bios to the accepted version?
