Coin cell battery for Dell Inspiron 15 3511

Hi,

Does the  Dell Inspiron 15 3511 have a cmos battery?

Or does it rely on the system battery to save the cmos time?

It does not appear to have one, no -- so the main battery retains the CMOS settings.

Had to long press the power button to make the laptop start (it looked dead before I did). When it resurrected, there was a white page saying something like "the bios time is wrong". I've pressed continue and Windows started.

Does that mean I'd have to replace the main battery?

That laptop is always plugged. I wonder why it did that?

Run a battery report:

Open a command prompt with admin privilege and type

powercfg /batteryreport

What is the current charge capacity of the battery showing?

At about four years of age, and if it's been plugged in most or all of the time, it may indeed be the battery needs to be replaced.

Good tip!

I'll generate the report the next time I'll have access to that laptop.

Thanks!
