After Dell Support Assistant update today problems

I ran the support assistant last week.  I ran it again today and there was firmware’ or some other update, which I ran.  I then restarted my laptop which I bought new last June and it’s stuck in a restart loop and the auto repair can’t fix it.  I tried safe mode and it worked once but can’t get it to run again.

I’ve been trying for about 45 minutes with no success.  I can’t restore since I haven’t backed up in a month or so.

thoughts on how to proceed?

I had to wipe the operating system and start over.  Gratefully I was able to copy all my data.  7ish days later almost back to normal but for my old outlook mailboxes

I finally got it to start in safe mode and got to log and it says

recently serviced boot binary is corrupt

still not sure how to proceed

I attempted a System Restore but it was unable to be completed. The only restore point available was 7/1/23, which confuses me because I distinctly remember the Command Update process telling me it was creating a restore point, which should have been dated yesterday.

this is the message I get when running System RestoreIMG_7140.jpeg

I kept restarting until I was able to get to advanced settings and was able to start in safe mode.  It didn’t pop up right away, I kept getting a repair error and it would keep restarting so I let it cycle until I finally got other options.

Can I ask how you copied your old data without being able to boot?  I’m away from home with no access to my backups…

This happened to me exactly one week ago - same thing! I ran what you ran and next time I restarted, it hung up on the Dell logo forever. Panicked, I checked the Google machine and discovered that if you shut off the laptop (by holding the power button down - UGH) you can immediately start pressing F12 quickly and it'll go into a Diagnostics mode. You can run all kinds of texts there, which I did. I eventually ended up wiping it clean and Dell was able to retrieve all my stuff via the Cloud. Took me about three hours beginning to end, but I finally got it done. What a pain. C'mon Dell, do better!

One last thing - if you end up wiping it, make sure to reinstall your audio and video drivers. Today - a full week later - nobody could hear me in a Zoom meeting, I had no microphone. Reinstalled the 'RealTek' driver and it's all good again.

Good luck.
