2 amber lights and 1 white light

Inspiron 3593

Hi Community,

I am reaching out to seek your expertise regarding a recurring issue with my Dell laptop. Recently, I have noticed the following problems:

  • When I attempt to power on the laptop, the caps lock button lights up, and the indicator light near the charging port blinks amber twice and then white once.
  • The laptop display remains off, and while the fans initially start up, they quickly turn off within about 10 seconds.
  • Additionally, a long press on the power button only restarts the system rather than fully powering it down.

I have attempted some troubleshooting steps, including a power drain, removing external devices, and even reseating the RAM, but unfortunately, the issue persists.

Could you please advise on any further steps I could try, or would you recommend a diagnostic inspection? If there are any costs involved, I would appreciate details on the fees and any relevant service options.

Fun fact is that: After 2 days from this issue, my laptop boot in to BIOS and asked for time setting and I saved to default. Then after few restarts, the laptop gone to never ending bootloop (JUST restarting, keyboard backlight on and no Dell logo!!). I just need to wait until all power is 0% and dead  to make the close the lid and pack it up.

Any insight will be helpful.

No only replacement of motherboard was a solution in my case.

2-1 indicates a processor failure.

It might be worthwhile to replace the CMOS battery and see if that has any effect on the system function.  From what you describe and the LED code, most likely, I would expect to replace the motherboard.

Unplug battery.

Wait 5 sec.

Hold Power button on laptop for 30+ seconds.

Release Power button.

Press Power.

Wait.

It boots.

Hello, I had a similar problem with a BIOS update recommended by the DELL website. After the failure, the notebook displayed the LED pattern: 1 white, 2 amber (orange). I took it to a technician who said that the motherboard was intact, and that it was necessary to re-flash the BIOS chipset via hardware. He removed the BIOS chip from the motherboard and re-flash it. The notebook started working again.

@mac_srv That's good. I have replaced my Motherboard and it's working now. Lucky you, only your BIOS is corrupted. I think there are N reasons for this Symptom
