Using Inspirion 7790 AIO as external monitor - resolution problem
Inspiron 7790 AIO
When I try to use my Inspiron 7790 AIO as external monitor for my laptop, since a few days the maximum resolution is 1360x768. I did not change anything in the settings and when I connect my laptop to another monitor, I get a higher resolution. How can I solve this?

The problem isn't the HDMI-cable or HDMI-port, as it worked before. I sort of found an solution: I disabled the driver for the display adapter on my laptop, and now it works 1920x1080. Don't know why, but hey, it works.

Yes, the pc has 1920x1080 as resolution. I already tried re-installing the graphics driver on my laptop, as well as re-installing the Dell onscreen display application, but with no success.

@ev10294 - This sounds like it's a problem with this one specific monitor since connecting a different monitor to the laptop gives higher resolution.
Have you tried connecting this monitor to a different PC to see if the resolution problem goes with the monitor to the other PC?
If the problem goes with monitor and it has an On-Screen Display (OSD) that's opened by pressing a button(s) on the monitor, check the OSD settings for resolution, etc. Or maybe just reset everything on the OSD to their default settings and see if that helps.
If problem goes with the monitor and/or can't be fixed by changing or resetting OSD settings, you may have to replace it. If it's still under warranty contact the manufacturer's tech support for repair or replacement.

@RoHe Thank you for your reply! Where can I find the On-Screen Display settings or reset their default settings?

I have had the same issue with my AIO 7790. Normally it works at 1920 x 1080. When I use it as an external extended monitor to my laptop, the resolution drops to 1360 x 768. I've had DELL customer service try and resolve this. I've also had my work IT try and resolve. Neither could help.

Hi, I have the same problem connecting my DELL Latitude 7420 to DELL Inspiron 7790AIO where resolution was dropping to 1360 x 768. This issue is resolved when I connected laptop via HDMI Adaptor (USBC to HDMI). Hope it helps
