New ram, can’t start pc, even with original reinstalled G5 5000

Honestly I’m less concerned with getting the new ram to work now as I am just getting the pc back on. I tried installing corsair vengence rgb pro 32 gb 3200mhz. Originally I have the 16gb that came with it. I shut down, removed power cable, removed ram, installed new ram, pc turns on for about 10 seconds with no display and then it turns off with no power drawing whatsoever. Powered down unplugged, and reinstalled old ram, same exact thing. I could have sworn I’ve always heard upgrading ram is excruciatingly simple..until insert Dell. Sim forbid someone without 20 years of pc experience want more RAM on their pre build, right? Im under warranty until April is this covered if I need it, or is this one of those loophole situations that aren’t?

If the system does not work with the original RAM then you would be covered under warranty, unless while installing the RAM a component was damaged. Check all the cables to make sure they are secure. Make sure the RAM is in the correct slots. They are colour coded and generally the white tab slots are used for 2 RAM modules. And the RAM only goes in one way with the notches aligned. And make sure they are fully seated, you should hear a click. Sometimes it takes a bit of pressure to seat them. The service manual is here with more information. You could also try pulling the CMOS battery, wait 15 minutes, then reinstall unless you would rather not get too involved in troubleshooting.

I have absolutely no idea if this is related, but my 4-month-old Vostro desktop often acts like this, especially if I'm powering it up after just shutting it down: it runs for a few seconds, then frustratingly powers off. I have no idea why it does this, though I presume there's a reason; unfortunately I haven't gotten around to asking Dell about it. It generally powers up normally the next time. I mention this just in case you haven't tried more than once in any configuration to power up your system.

Thank you. I think they should really add the cmos bios reset step to the service manual. Has nothing about it in the installing new ram section.

lol, if no codes just keep pressing that power button until it bypasses the secure boot thingy.  All of my Dells (Optiplex, XPS, G5) have done this with factory RAM, but an added GPU that isn't secu8re boot or whatever.

I just bought the exact same ram for the exact same computer. How did you solve it?
