Intel Graphics Driver Issue

Dell just had me update my previous, 2015, Intel HD Graphics 4600 driver to version 20.19 (a 2020 version). However, Adobe Lightroom is messaging me that I should update my driver to version 100. Is Dell that far behind? Is there a workaround to allow me to use the correct driver? FYI, I have an Inspiron 2350 that also has an AMD Radeon HD 8600M graphics card. I am really happy with this computer (other than regular bluetooth issues) and I'd like to keep it up to date.

@UserIDS  - I'm confused...

You're saying Dell had you update the Intel HD 4600 Graphics driver, but your PC also has a (non-removable) AMD Radeon HD 8600M GPU attached to the motherboard.

The PC should be using the AMD GPU so that's the only driver that matters.  Latest AMD driver Dell offers for Win 10 on this PC model is here (2016). You could go here to see how to let AMD's auto-detect tool scan your hardware and possibly offer a newer driver for the 8600M GPU.

BTW: Have you checked to see if the driver update is now forcing the system to use Intel HD 4600 Graphics for Lightroom?  Look at this AMD page about selecting the right graphics card. The page says "laptop", but should apply to your Inspiron 2350 which is basically a laptop with a separate keyboard.

From the information you disclosed, use the driver offered by Adobe to keep your system up to date.

Thanks RoHe, very helpful. I found I needed to set the preferences for Lightroom to use the AMD card. Now I don't have to worry about the Intel graphics. I read somewhere that Lightroom gives the message about the Intel card even if it isn't using it. I just need to ignore the message.

Glad to help...

Now go to the Intel Download Center to download/install their Support Assistant. Let it scan your hardware and see if there's a newer driver for their HD 4600 Graphics, and/or for any other Intel drivers.

And if your question has been answered, please accept a post in this thread as the Solution.
