Inspiron 3880 help

Hi, I'm using the Inspiron 3880. Currently, I run with the usual motherboard mechanical hard drive and storage drive. Although I use some parts that weren't already in there such as the Core i5 10600K 16 GB of 2133 MHZ RAM and a 360W PSU. (I also have a GPU that I'm not going to list) So do you guys think (while gaming) I could use the RTX 3050?

@Gamer1034 - Lets keep things civil around here.

You certainly cannot use that GPU if you don't currently have a PCIe power connector going from the PSU to the GPU.

Even if you have the PCIe connector, IMO, a 360W PSU is insufficient. NVidia wouldn't say you need a minimum 550W PSU if that was a meaningless spec.

If you still want to try that GPU with a 360W PSU, it's entirely your decision, and as long as you accept the risk it may not work and/or may overload the PSU.

NVidia says Required System Power for RTX 3050 is 550W.

Check the PSU requirements for the exact card you'd want to use, but unless you can do another PSU upgrade, I don't think an RTX 3050 is going to work.

Psu calculator (basic) says 360w psu is okay running a rtx 3050 with i5-10600k, 2x8 gb ddr4, 1 x hdd, 1 x dvd.  If you use nvme or sata ssd to replace hdd, even better as they use less power.  Load Wattage: 316 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 366 W

RTX 3050 needs one 8 pin PCIe connector.  If you have the Dell oem 360w psu such as K38XP it has a 6 pin PCIe connector. You can use a dell 6 to 8 pin adapter for the 360w psu black 6 pin PCIe connector.

3880 motherboard supports a dual slot gpu.

The RTX 3050 used to calculate the load from the video card is a Dell OEM card. Dell OEM GPUs are specifically designed to need less power than "retail" GPUs with the exact same NVidia number. That's why I suggested you check the PSU requirements for the exact RTX 3050 you'd want.

Does your PSU have the PCIe 8-pin connector that an RTX 3050 card will need?

You likely have to disable Secure Boot in BIOS setup before installing any "retail" GPU. Otherwise the PC won't boot...

Didn't know if your PSU had a PCIe connector. You'd need a 6 pin(PSU)>8 pin(GPU) adapter cable.

Again, check the specific card you'd buy to see exactly what PCIe connector it uses...

so sorry, it was a misconception over what somebody said. are you aware of what i can do when i don't have any pcie connecter things on my psu?

Are you sure the PCIe connector isn't just hidden behind or under the PSU? You can also check its specs at the manufacturer's site.

If your PSU doesn't have any PCIe power connector, you probably won't be able to use the card you linked, without a PSU upgrade. BTW: I didn't see either the PCIe pin requirements or the recommended PSU size listed for this card on that Amazon page.

Something else to consider... The card you linked supports PCIe 4. The Inspiron 3880 only supports PCIe up to PCIe 3. Lets assume that card is fully backward compatible with PCIe 3, it's performance may not be as good as rated because PCIe 3 is slower than PCIe 4.

Comparisons of performance may also vary by game because some games may not support PCIe 4. So you wouldn't see any difference with those in a PC supporting PCIe 3.

EDIT: If this is a modular PSU, it may have a socket where you can plug in an optional PCIe connector cable, rather than having that cable permanently attached.

Hello, I'm looking for a good GPU without upgrading my 360W PSU. Do y'all know if this seller is trustable, his listing is pretty cheap https://www.amazon.com/PNY-VCNRTXA200012GB-PB-NVIDIA-A2000-12GB/dp/B09SJ2BZ85

Alright, y'all need to answer the fricking question. Can I or can I not use this PSU  https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-H360EGM-00-0VM8KR-VM8KR-Compatible/dp/B0BBL52BWY/ref=sr_1_6?crid=... With the RTX 3050 (360W PSU BTW)
