Inspiron 3847
Hi everyone, I have an Inspiron 3847. I had to wipe the drive. Now I am trying to go back and instill Support Assist and update the drivers on the Dell support page. Support Assist just spins when I try to load it. Also, when I try to download identify a product or ask support, pc or anything like that on the Dell Support Home tab, I get an error that says:
There is no match for the service tag or product id. Please try again, auto-detect or choose from all products
Can anyone let me know what the problem may be?
Thanks.
I get this error even though my service tag number comes up when I hit detect my pc.

Your best bet is a direct install of Windows 10 on the system. This system is 11-12 years old at this point and any factory recovery image will either be unavailable (any earlier than Windows 10) or would need so much updating you're better off downloading the Windows 10 media creation tool from MS.

I meant "Now I am trying to go back and instill Support Assist and update the drivers on the Dell support page"

I'm having the exact same problem as well. The recovery usb I used to reinstall Windows just restarts repeatedly. I will try downloading the suggested Windows 10 media creation tool from MS to see if that works.

@ejn63 I finally got support assist to load and run. I did the direct install that you recommended. I had to load support assist several times before I was able to get it to work. Thanks.
