Inspiron 3020, cannot display proper/native resolution
Inspiron 3020 Desktop
I recently purchased the Inspiron 3020 and connect it to my Acer EB321 WQHD monitor. But the new Dell 3020 can only display up to 2048x1152 and not 2056x1440. Only when I use the display card from my old computer then it can display 2056x1440.
I have another pc which is 4 years old also with Windows 11 can display the native resolution properly. No issue at all.
I installed all the possible driver from Dell, Intel and acer.
I move the monitor to another Dell PC 3090 which have Intel 730 chip and is the same. Can only display 2048x1152.
Why?

Thank you for you reply.
Yes, my monitor native resolution is 2560x1440.
But the two Dell PC I have can only display 2048x1152.
I have another 4 years pc with windows 11, can display 2560x1440. No issue at all.

@Peter Ong First, I think you mean 2560x1440, not 2056x1440. Second, what interface are you using to connect to your monitor, DisplayPort, HDMI, or DVI? The max. resolution may be limited by the interface you are using.

@Peter Ong I understand that your monitor works at 2560x1440 on another PC with Intel UHD Graphics 730. I am pretty sure the limitation is not UHD Graphics 730 According to this: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000090017/graphics.html#:~:text=Refer%20to%20Intel%C2%AE%20Core,is%204096%20x%202160%20%40%2060Hz.
the max resolution is 3840x2160 at 60Hz. If the problem is not the UHD Graphics 730, then it is the interface or the driver, if you are using the HDMI port, look at the Inspiron 3020 Setup and Specifications, the limit of the HDMI 1.4b port is 1920x1200. I assume you are not using HDMI since your resolution is higher.
Check the possible modes of your display adapter. Go to All settings / System / Display, click on 'Advanced display settings' on the right, then in the next window click on 'Display adapter properties for Display 1'. In the popup window for the monitor and graphics adapter, click on the 'Adapter''tab and then click on the 'List All Modes' button. The 'List All Modes' window should appear and all the valid modes for the graphics adapter are listed based on the driver you are using. If you don't see the mode you want listed then you will probably need to try another driver.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I try this too, the "list all modes" the highest resolution is 2048x1152.
I try install all latest driver from Dell and Intel, still can't solve the problem.

@Peter Ong I just noticed that in the Inspiron 3020 Desktop Service Manual, there is information (see page 61 of the manual) in the BIOS about the Native Resolution of the computer. Check the BIOS and see what the setting is and if it can be changed.

Thanks again for you reply.
Yes, I try the bios. The native resolution show 2560x1440. but when I use "list all mode" in windows, is only show 2048x1152. weird.

This is the reply I got from dell
Dell Cares: Thank you for your patience.
As mentioned above, it is based on the MOBO chipset of each system, also some system processor can support but due to design limitations on that model, so it cannot reach it.
