DS 07/24: Do you recommend leaving your computer running all the time or shutting it down?

Please don't leave your computer running all the time, unless you need it running (such as a server). Leaving a computer running constantly even when it's not doing anything useful is a needless waste of resources. 

Climate change is real and increasingly devastating. You may think that your single computer has no impact, but multiply that by hundreds of millions of computer owners making the same decision.

Modern computers, even home computers, draw much more power than older systems. That huge electricty usage contributes significatnly to climate change. It also costs you money and it's simply wasteful.

Shutting down your computer also allows it to reboot cleanly, which can be beneficial.

Please, if you're not using your computer, shut it down and turn off the power.
