Desktop Settings lost when upgrading from 10 to 11?
Inspiron 3880 came with Windows 10 and I set up my desktop with all FAVS, passwords, etc. They kept bugging me to upgrade to 11, so I did that about 2 weeks ago. Everything looked and behaved the same until 1 week ago and the whole desktop looks different now and all my websites are gone.
?What happened. Did 11 wipe out all my icons?

I spent $99 and four hours with Dell Support doing a remote assist. She installed several drivers. I believe the original computer (refurbished from Dell Outlet) was not right and the first set up was corrupted - that too with a Dell Hardware techie getting the Word Program installed.

Do you have a disc image backup to restore?
I don't think Win 11 is the "culprit". I upgraded from 10 to 11 back in November and with all the updates, nothing was lost.
Did you log in with different user name? that is one way to get a new desktop.
Back to the disc image. I make full disc images (all partitions) using the free and popular Macrium Reflect, to a separate USB connected disc. If something would happen, like what you have, I can restore in less than 45 minutes. Backups are not for "if" its needed, but for "when" its needed.

I'm the only user. Don't know about disc backup - this computer doesn't have a disc drive - if that's what you mean.

You have some type of storage device, M.2 SSD, SATA SSD or hard drive. All the same, they need backed up. SSD's even more important, if one fails usually no warning,
You can try System Restore and if lucky you will have a restore point before this happened.
Here is one (of many) youtube videos on how to run System Restore. Its for Win 10, but 11 is the same.
