Dell G5 socket
Hi guys, I’ve been experiencing some CPU heat sync problems and was wondering what socket the stock CPU heat sync cooler uses, we’ve tried fitting a few types of new heat syncs but the motherboard socket doesn’t fit any other types of heat syncs?
If this helps I have a Dell G5-5090 and it’s got an intel I7. Thanks for helping.

I think you meant CPU heat sink, not sync.
G5 5090 has Intel 300 series chipset and uses LGA1151 socket. Heatsink mount hole spacing interchangeable with LGA1150, 1155.
The 4 holes for fastening the heatsink to the motherboard are placed in a square with a lateral length of 75 mm for Intel's sockets LGA 1156, LGA 1155, LGA 1150, LGA 1151 and LGA 1200. Cooling solutions should therefore be interchangeable.
It seems motherboard has clear mounting holes,.
Check whether your Dell heatsink is directly mounted on threaded studs of chassis mounting tray. Aftermarket cooler may have to use same thread screw in that case.
