BIOs update A10 doesn’t recognise CPU i7 3770 3.4

I am guessing that the CPU was introduced to the market after the manufacture of my motherboard resulting in the failure.
I have tried upgrading the BIOs to A08. I have downloaded it and tried to install it. After the initial warning that the system will be altered nothing happens.
I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a list of CPU’s that should be recognised by the mb.

I’m on the verge of packing it in and buying a new motherboard, any suggestions would be welcomed.

Hi thanks for your prompt reply. As my PC is an Inspiron 620 I think your second paragraph answers my question.

It just goes to prove that it pays to seek confirmation of anything you read on the internet.

I purchased the I7 3770  after reading that it was recommended as an upgrade on this site:

https://www.hardware-corner.net/desktop-models/Dell-Inspiron-620/

Looks like another mother board might be the answer. Would make it possible to increase RAM at the same time.

thanks again.

@Paulc999

Best update is to get as much space as possible for upgrades.

That would be a 7010 Tower model.  Since you already have 3770  its possible to get a low end 7010.

Most all the other parts if you have 1600Mhz ram are migratable to the tower including your hard drive.  May require reinstall but other than that everything Just works.

7010 tower can be made into a sleeper build.

If spending over $100 I would recommend this one which has 16 gigs and windows 10 and some RGB BLing exactly like the one that Dawid Does Tech Stuff made into a sleeper.
