after update computer won't work

We have a Dell Inspiron 3380. We got notified that there were 4 updates to install. Three of them did fine. The fourth seems to be hung up somehow and will not allow us to do anything with the computer. We cannot access the search bar...internet will not come up...we cannot access settings...we cannot figure out how to cancel the update. We have turned the computer off but when we turn it back on, we still cannot do anything. Something is apparently trying to connect with the internet but cannot--it tells us to check our connection, but we cannot get to the settings in order to do so. 

Does anyone have any ideas how to get the computer back working??
