Upgrade Dell Equallogic Infrastructure
Hi,
In my organization we have two Equallogic PS6000XV connected to two Powerconnect 5424 serving 3 VMWARE ESXI servers.
We want to upgrade the switches to Two Powerconnect 5548 stacked with hdmi cables and add a third Equallogic PS6100 to the mix.
Can the Powerconnect 5548 handle this configuration?
thanks in advance

HI Donald,
The current ISL configuration of the PE 5424 is 8 LAG Ports.

We have available two PE 6248 and two 5548, per your information we will use the two PE 6248 for this.

"No, the 55xx series is not suitable for iSCSI use"
That is rather drastic statement!
What about all the people using these switches?

Surely 2 switch stack should be able to handle 2 arrays & 3 servers?

I remember that the 55xx switches were not certified for Equallogic. Maybe now they are compliant (with latest firmware), but check the compatibility matrix.
Remember also that adding a new member in an existing group need same firmware... so plan the upgrade of them first.

They works, but were not supported, for example, with EqualLogic.
Not sure if recent firmware fix this issue.
Note that 54xx were certified.
