Equallogic & large virtual file shares. 4TB+

Hi,

We are amassing a large amount of raw video and it's starting to grow at 2TB a year.

Currently we have a virtual windows file server with an OS level RDM to the Equallogic volume.

Is this the best way to continue toward 10GB+ or should we be thinking differently?

vVols?

Thanks

Hi Don,

We already use RDM to the virtual operating system level so we can use the Equallogic Host Integration.

We currently have a 4TB volume at it's going to grow by 2 or 3TB each year.

The question is, is this the best way to keep working or should be consider vVols and would that simplify the configuration?

Are there performance gains either way?

Are there data protection or backup advantages either way?

We will probably move to 10gb ethernet as we update infrastructure.

Thanks

Damien
