PS6100X In-use space exceeds the warning limit.
I know this isn't a critical fault but in the past I've used vmkfstools -y to resolve this. We are running ESXi 5.5 and the EqualLogic firmware is V7.1.5. I know its old and we have it scheduled to upgrade soon. My question is why doesn't vmkfstools -y work any more in reclaiming disk space? If there is another procedure, where can I find it?
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks Don,
We don't replicate the volumes.
The KB shows the command to use is:
esxcli storage vmfs unmap --volume-label=volume_label
if I use the volume label, which I will. And I would leave off the reclaim unit number assuming the default of 200 will be used.
Would I then need to run this multiple times as before with VMKFSTOOLS?
Thanks,
Dave

Don, On a somewhat related issue, we have a SAN with 4 volumes all of which are thick provisioned. Some VMs on these volumes are turned off but we don't want to delete them from disk just yet. Would I be able to migrate them from one of these volumes to another but select Thin Provisioning as the virtual disk format despite the volumes being thick provisioned? Would this then return any unused disk space that VM has?
Thanks,
dave

As these SANs are almost 5 years old and targeted for replacement within the next 12 months, I'll avoid all that work for minimum gain.
Thanks,
Dave
