Move iSCSI LUN to new pool in new group
Hi, we currently have 2 equalogic groups, each group has one pool. They are on the same subnet. We are in the process of consolidating the SAN's into a single group but before we can do that we have a couple of LUN's that we need to move to the target group. Apart from stopping the services on the relevant servers and copying the data to new targets, is there a way to transfer a LUN between groups?
Thanks,
Chris

Sure.
The function of transfer a LUN between groups is called "Async. Replication" :)
1. Setup a replication partnership. The target needs to offer "Delegated Space"
2. Setup a volume replication. After the initial copy shut down all connected Servers and do a replication again to transfer the last delta
3. Set the volume offline and on the target group perform a "promote".
4. Disable Replication
5. Check the ACLs and reconfigure the Hosts

Thanks Don, the VMDK's are already moved but for our exchange servers and our primary file server we have iSCSI LUN mappings so it's much easier this way and reduces the downtime. Especially as the FS LUN is 2TB so would take a fair amount of copying.
We have the necessary space and have already done a test replication, I did notice that there was a requirement for at least 105% too.
Cheers,
Chris

Iam sure that you take a look to the manual because it is not completly self explaning but its the way to solve your problem.
