Is Storage manager replacement of SAN HQ?

We have both Equallogic and Compellent storage in our env. and we use both SAN HQ and Storage Manager to manage the storage array. Can someone confirm Storage Manager can be used as replacement of SAN HQ? We I know I can add PS group in the storage manager but not sure if it will collect the same information as SAN HQ.

Thanks

Hello,

Storage Manager is not a replacement for SANHQ for PS Arrays.  Storage Manager allows a limited set of management features and allows replication to / from the PS groups.  It does not provide performance or IO monitoring like SANHQ does.

Additionally SANHQ has SupportAssist for PS arrays and will send data to Dell for monitoring and support case creation on HW failures.

Lastly SANHQ provides a lot of data for support folks when triaging PS group problems.

Don

Hello,

If you look at my first reply you will see that DSM is NOT a replacement for SANHQ.
