How to export volumes/partitions to the server ?

Hello everyone.

We received an Equallogoc ps6110 storage.
I made the initial configuration, RAID policy, volumes, etc.
The storage and server are connected to a DELL powerconnect 6224 via SFP+ (SFP+ module at the back of the switch).
Both can communicate (via ping) and I can also access (the command-line interface) the storage via SSH, or ia serial port.

However, I have not yet been able to export the partitions / volume via NFS.

I have read quite a few manuals but have not yet succeeded.

What should I do?

My best regards.

Hello,

The PS series SAN is not a NAS device that allows you to share volumes via NFS or SMB.

You connect your server to volumes you create on the array via iSCSI.  Once you connect the volume to the server, you can share that volume via SMB/NFS.

There a number of HOWTO videos on how to use Equallogic arrays on YouTube.

Short intro is you create a volume on the EQL SAN. Allow your server to access it.  Using either the IP addresses of the server NICs used for iSCSI, the iSCSI initiator name or a CHAP user account.

Then with the iSCSI initiator on the server, connect to that volume over the network.  That will show up like a local drive and need to be formatted.  Strongly suggest you manually set the NTFS cluster size to 64K when you do format it.

 Regards,

Don
