Dell PS4100 without Serial Port ?
Hi Everyone,
I’m working with a Dell EqualLogic PS4100 SAN, which has the RAID controller model E02M. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a serial port, and I’m unsure how to reset the system without passwords or access to the serial port.
I’m also unable to reset the SAN to access it via iSCSI or the management port. It doesn’t seem to obtain an IP address via DHCP, and I suspect DHCP might be deactivated.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or found a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
The controller has a serial port, referring to the picture you had, it's on the far right PS2 port. You will need Dell serial cable DPN# MN657 as some users tried their own cable but had issues. With the access (the password is shown in the ref post), you might be able to check the IP address.

There is another way, but it never works for me as the office network is configured differently. Connect the laptop and MD3200 on the same network, open the laptop terminal and do a command arp -a. If the network allows, it will show a list of IPs and MACs, you can try to match the MAC address with the listed IP.

@Dominique.Heinrich
Just install the latest MDSM Software ( you can download it from dell.com without a hassle). Insert the two MAC adresses into your local ARP table and assign 2 IPv4 of your choice and use these to connect from MDSM to the two MGMT Ports. You can for sure use "ping" first
Keep finger crossing that the unit isnt protected by a password.
Even if you have the serial iam not sure if you can perform a factory reset from the command line.

@Origin3k
FYI: The serial port setting for baud rate, etc were never changed from 9600 baud.

The 2nd, older method is to reboot the array while connected to the active controller and interrupt the boot process and enter in a command. This will auto login you in so you can change the password.
