Windows 7 Sysprep removes free fall sensor and the video display drivers on Dell E6420
After syspreping a Windows 7 image on a Dell Latitude E6420 the Free fall sensor driver and the video card drivers are removed. The images deployed to the new machines gives a "Error Handle" message after login to the system the first time.
For some background information the way things are setup here are; WDS running on a Windows 2008 Server R2 machine:
1. I install W7 on a Laptop, installed my applications, latest drivers.
2. Run 'sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown.
3. And capture the image via WDS.
4. I then create a 'WDSUnattended.xml' and 'ImageUnattended.xml' for the WDS Deployment step.
That all went successfully, no errors - everything looked great, UNTIL I switched on the machine I just imaged with our Custom W7 Image, problems encountered were:
1. Free Fall Sensor driver did not carry across (seems like it was removed);
2. Display Drivers were also gone, defaulted back to like 800x600, generic driver;
Any pointers or help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I had an issue with XP where I needed to use R294986 when using a captured image. I'm not sure if it applies to your issue with Win7, but if you're running out of ideas, give it a shot.

Which video card are you using? If it is Nvidia, you will need to get the drivers from the Driver Cabs to address that issue.
Which version of the Free Fall sensor are you using? Depending on how your are building your deployment (from captured image or from the .wim on MS media) will dictact which version of Free Fall sensor you should be using.
Thanks,
Warren

Warren - Thanks !! for a quick response. After reading a post earlier, I installed the video driver from the CAB file. It is an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card. I am in middle of sysprep and it looks like the video driver issue might have been fixed, but I will let you know once the sysprep and capture is complete.
As far as your 2nd question go, we are building our deployment from a capture image. What version of free fall sensor driver should I use ?? The CAB file driver and the dell.support.com page free fall sensor driver are the same. Please advise.
Thanks!!

Hi Warren,
I installed the video driver from the cab file and it seems to work ok now. The sysprep doesn't remove the video drivers anymore. Mysteriously, with this change in the video driver now, it does not remove the free fall sensore driver during the sysprep.
Thanks!! for your advice.
I have another issue in regard to advanced format drive that I would like to discuss. I will open another thread for it.
Thanks!!
