XPS 710 hard drive update.
Hello, hope someone can help me, I have an XPS 710 and need to add a bigger hard drive. At the moment it is running two 300 Gb drives set up as a NVIDIA stripe single drive. I would like to add a 2Tb drive and need to know if my motherboard can handle a drive this big. Also could someone please tell what the biggest drive my computer will take, as I'm a video editor and I need all the space I can get. Will it plug straight in or do I need to get some cables too. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Stu.

XP can handle a 2TB disk just fine. It's when you go over 2TB (or 2.19TB to be exact) that you run into the limitations with XP.
If you want more feedback, I'd suggest you post under the desktop section instead of Storage - Dell|EMC Storage.

The system will handle it but im not sure about XP. The system takes SATA drives and you should have all the necessary extra power and signal cables inside the box.

Cheers, Yeah I put the post up on the desktop forum afterwards thinking I might get a better response.
So I can fit a 2tb drive and the system and xp will find it, but will it find the whole drive or just 1.4tb of it as I already have 600gb drive, or do they work independently?
Thanks for helping out.

Not hard at all. See HERE for some info. Go to page 8 for your situation. I always suggest you do this on separate drives rather then on one drive
