Pro 14 Premium PA14250, screens are going black?
Hi All,
Wonder if anyone is having this issue with Dell Pro 14 Premium PA14250?
Screens are going black at random, completely black only mouse cursor can de seen. Only way to get arround this is by holding the power button for 15sec. No ctrl alt del, nothing, disconnecting from the Dell USB-C dock no go, same happens on Lenovo USB-C dock's to. I have about 5 laptops with this issue atm and all Dell Pro 14 Premium PA14250 model. I am checking log files atm but just wondering if anyone has seen this and got fix?

Hi everyone,
Thank you for reporting this behavior.
Based on our internal investigation, updated BIOS, NPU, and graphics drivers have now been published for the Pro 14 Premium (PA14250) to address scenarios where the display may intermittently go black.
Next steps
Additional note:
If you find that the Intel graphics driver version provided by Dell is not offering stable behavior on your system, you can either roll back to a previously stable version or install the latest driver directly from Intel’s website.
Thanks again for your help and collaboration. We’ll continue to monitor feedback in this thread and share updates as needed.

I am seeing this same behavior on multiple systems. Reimage and driver/BIOS updates have not resolved. I am not seeing the driver errors in event log, however. There is sometimes a generic hardware error but thats it.
Did you ever find a resolution?

Hey OK.tech.
It's a long process and ATM I am not sure which part fixed this issue, but you can try!
go in safe mode and run DDU, reboot and install GPU drivers from Intel and not Dell. Update BIOS, run DisplayLink Installation Cleaner (11.7.4208.0) reboot and install it back on DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows (12.1)
also update MS Teams and delete temp \ cache files in: C:\Users\name.surname\AppData\Local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe
hope this works for you to.

I attempted clean installs of the Intel display driver and Displaylink driver after running the removal utilities on 3 machines so far. One crashed today but user also stated Dell Command completed updates so I need to verify if it changed one of those driver versions. The other 2 have not crashed so far and were reporting crashes every other day.
I also noticed on one of the machines the display driver did not actually update after attempting to remove and install updated version, so it seems like there is an issue there.
Dell Support has not been helpful so far. Had me send logs and then couldnt determine anything.

Just to drop update on what I have try... with no luck:
BIOS update
DDU in Safe mode and clean GPU drivers install.
Display Link drivers update and clean reinstall ( also tried Lenovo Display Link Driver from Lenovo and Display Link drivers from Display Link).
Office repair + plus cleaning temp and cash
Team repair + plus cleaning temp and cash
Re flashing Lenovo Dock firmware
As the issue also happens during normal office work (Excel... Power Point). I have disabled Hardware Acceleration and testing this ATM.

Update: I have changed my dock. From Lenovo Hybrid to Lenovo Universal. The universal doesn't use Display Link. Had it for over 1 week and no issues, have done the same for 2 users and they don't have this issue atm. I am still monitoring.

@Stoyan_V1 Is this solution still holding after switching to a different Lenovo dock?
All of the docks in my environment are Dell and have no displaylink so I'm in a different boat. Updating the display driver from Intel site a few weeks ago has decreased frequency of issues but they are still occurring.
I am checking a machine today and now see multiple warnings in event viewer with ID 4101: Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has recovered.

@OK.tech Yes, no issue with Lenovo 40AY00135UK. Only fix is by switching the dock or rebuilding the laptop.
Have you try clean uninstall the display driver with DDU in safe mode?

Nothing I have tried has worked. Updating display driver from Intel seemed to reduce the frequency of crashes for a time but users are now reporting it's happening again daily. Laptops have been completely wiped and reimaged, no change. We have Dell docks in our environment without displaylink so that does not seem to be a factor.

We have exactly the same problem on our Dell Pro 14 Plus (PB141250) devices.
I can’t find any release note related to this issue for the bios, npu and gpu driver.

Updating to the latest Intel display driver from the Intel website has mostly resolved these issues for my users. The Dell website has an outdated driver that hast not been updated for months. I have been updating BIOS as well.
I also had to get the driver update option turned off in Windows Update settings as that was reinstalling old drivers.

@DELL-Nat M This has not resolved the issues as there is an outdated Intel display driver on the Dell driver website. Updating to the latest directly from Intel has resulted in the most stability so far.
