Pro 14 Premium PA14250, restarting instead of shutting down
I have 2 brand new Dell Pro 14 Premium laptops, both freshly imaged.
When I shut down both of them from the start menu, they shut down.... then immediately start again!!
It i press the power button again when at the Dell logo post screen it will shut down and not come back on, but i shouldnt have to do that.
All bios, drivers, and firmware are up to date. I restored bios to factory defaults (even though they hadnt been changed)
Happens whether connected to dock, power supply, or running on battery
Anyone else? We dont have more of this model to know if its that model having the issue, but 2 out of 2....

I thought it was all the pro models too, but yesterday i had 2 latitude users report it, but the patch does fix it

I'm having this issue on my Dell Precision 5690 laptop. It started this past Friday after a small update. Sometimes it won't automatically shutdown when I hold the power button to force a shutdown (after it restarts the first time), instead, it will give me a screen that says to slide down in order to power down. This is my work laptop so I have a work ticket in, but I'm trying to get possible solutions for them to try for when they're able to respond. According to Dell Command | Update, everything is up-to-date.

Try this update KB5075941, it was released on Tuesday. Just a quick question, are you on 23h2?
If yes that update should help and maybe upgrading to the latest Os version.

@Vin9833
Its a windows patch, not Dell specific, so it should resolve it

Hi @AlexInnes
Could you please install the latest Windows Update and let us know the outcome?
If the issue persists, please share a video here on this thread.

About 12 years ago, systems started using something called Modern Standby. That changed how one of those systems behaved during sleep or standby.
The power options changed and whatever power state you think it is in, may be incorrect. It has been so long, I have forgotten some of the details, but which button you use may or may not give you the desired effect. Maybe some details as to how you use, awake and asleep buttons, would help my memory.

I am having the same Issue with a lot of our new Dell 16 Pro Laptops 16250 Models, as i am having around 2000 other devices of other types with the same Windows 11 and WIndows Update configuration this can not solely be connected to Windows/Windows Update but there has to be a connection between the new models and this bug as only these devices are affected.
We already have Fast Boot disabled and alle Drivers updated throught Dell Command Update and also all Windows Updates installed.
Please Dell give us some support in this case
Best Regards,
