Pro 13 Premium PA13250, camera turns OFF by itself in the middle of the call

I have recently purchased a new Dell Pro 13 Premium PA13250 laptop.

During the videocalls in Teams, Zoom and Google Meet when the camera is ON, it's frequent that the camera turns OFF by itself in the middle of the call.

When I attempt to turn the camera ON again, the computer reboots making an awful sound.

It's an awful thing as most of my work video calls I have to spend without the camera...

I have the evidence of this behavior filmed on my phone.

Unfortunately resetting the drivers did not help...

In the end, after 3 on-site replacements of the equipment (motherboard, screen module, both together), nothing helped.

Of course, after multiple driver updates and clean system reinstalls prior to any replacements.

The good side - I was able to receive the reimbursement. But it was a pain as you can imagine. I don't recommend this Dell product line to anyone anymore. I also don't recommend Dell support to anyone anymore.

Hi everyone,

Dell has released new updates for Graphics, NPU, Webcam drivers, and BIOS/firmware across several systems.

If you’re experiencing the camera turning off during calls, please make sure your device is fully updated.

The easiest way to install everything is by using:

  • Dell Command | Update (recommended for business environments)
  • SupportAssist (automatic detection and update)

After updating, please let us know if this resolves the camera issue for you. Your feedback helps us confirm the fix across different systems.

Thanks for your patience and collaboration!

@DELL-Nat M I have a whole thread of conversation with Dell support in Whatsapp and what I can say right now is that there's no motivation there to provide support but only to defer the support. I also can say that even after I completed ePSA diagnostics I never had anyone to offer on-site support (which is a part of ProSupport offering)

<You marking DELL-Nat M reply as, "inappropriate" is incorrect. DELL-Admin>

2 months and no solution is unacceptable. Dell needs to stand by their products.

As of right now, the problem has not been fixed.
- Dell has changed the Monitor+Camera module
- Dell has changed the Motherboard module

The issue persists with all the newest drivers installed, system reinstalled from the Dell Recovery image & BIOS updated 😵‍💫

Rolling back the camera driver didn't help.

It seems that the problem with the iacamera64.sys driver has existed for years and has affected other laptop brands. I haven't found a reliable solution except for updating or rolling back the driver, which doesn't seem to help in this case.

For me none of the Dell software updates worked. I did however manage to resolve the problem by using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant and selecting a clean install on each of the updates it found. So far it seems to be working without cutting out.

Intel Driver & Support Assistant

My system is a Dell XPS 16 9640 and previously I was getting the issue that the camera would cut out after a few seconds with the error below.

Faulting application name: svchost.exe_FrameServer, version: 10.0.26100.5074
Faulting module name: ze_intel_gpu64.dll
