Question about OME Alert History.
Dear Colleagues,
I have a problem about PowerConnect Switch.
Although Switch rebooted, No critical alert occured at OME.
I requested OME alert symptom, but alerts already cleared by End-User.
Please let me know.
1. how to view deleted alert?
2. There are any log files about OME?
3. What logs are required for the OME troubleshooting?
No Events found!

Hi,
Q1 How to test SNMP alert for M8204K? for example, iDRAC has test SNMP menu?
A: Even a login generates an alert for a switch, so when you login to the switch console remotely, you should get an alert in OME.
Q2 There are any logs about SNMP trap received history?
A: You can use troubleshooting tool which gets installed with OME. There is an option of SNMP trap listener. You can use that to see if any alerts are reaching OME.
Q3 There are any logs about OME?
A: There is a logs tab where you will get minimal logs. For detailed logs, it might be better to log a trouble ticket. It will not be that simple.
Q4 M8024-K switch logs has "warning and alert" . this alerts should generate snmp trap?
A: Yes, they will be SNMP traps and you should check if the traps are actually reaching OME machine or not. The first question is an answer to this question.
Hope this helps.

Hello and thanks for your question.
Can you provide:
- Model number of PowerConnect switch.
- Firmware version of PowerConnect switch, is it the latest firmware?
Have you been able to receive _any_ SNMP alerts in OME from this switch?
If an alert is deleted from the OME console, it will be removed from the OME SQL database.
Sometimes people will set up Email Alert Actions to email any critical alerts from switches or devices to an email account, etc.
Thanks,
Rob

Hello Rob,
Here comes answer;
- Model number of PowerConnect switch. : M8024-K
- Firmware version of PowerConnect switch, is it the latest firmware?: 5.1.1.7
Have you been able to receive _any_ SNMP alerts in OME from this switch?: Not this time, but I configured SNMP trap community name, trap destination IP. (I followed "Making My Environment Manageable for Dell OpenManage Essentials" - Configure Dell PowerConnect Network Switch)
I have a question.
Q1 How to test SNMP alert for M8204K? for example, iDRAC has test SNMP menu.
Q2 There are any logs about SNMP trap received history? end-user already deleted all logs.
Q3 There are any logs about OME? which logs are required for troubleshooting?
Q4 M8024-K switch logs has "warning and alert" . this alerts should generate snmp trap? if yes, I must check snmp trap between switch and OME first.
Warning MAR 03 23:12:25 DOT1S Msg Send failed for port 145
Warning MAR 03 23:12:25 SIM msMsgSend: message transmission to unit 1, failed
Alert MAR 03 14:10:20 UNITMGR Standby taking over as Manager of the Stack, reason: Heartbeat Timeout
Sorry for many question, I worried Q1,Q4 should not fit to this community.

Dear Pupul,
Many thanks about your kind and perfect answer.
I'll follow your answer, I'll check the traps are reaching between switch and OME.
