OME Firmware distribution and brutal reboot

Hi all,

I've been testing firmware distribution on OME 1.3 with some 12G servers being discovered by OME via iDRAC.

I've noticed that when I command the firmware distribution to a server, it gets brutally rebooted (I mean that the OS is not commanded a clean shutdown), then Life-Cycle controller starts and applies the updates.

Is this forced reboot the expected behavior? I have installed OMSA on the servers and thought that even if the discovery is done via iDRAC there would have been some interaction with the OS to have a proper shutdown.

Thanks

Hi there and thanks for the post.

Yes, this is the expected current behavior.  We've seen times where the graceful shutdown does not fully shutdown, hence the force.  Typically we recommend doing such updates during a maintenance window.

Hope this helps.
