Can I view OMSA on a XenServer ?
Hello
We have some Citrix XenServers on our network on which I have installed Open Mange Server Administrator (OMSA). We have a pair of EverRun servers on XenServer
version 6.0.2 with OMSA 7.1.0. We have another test XenServer on version 6.2.0 with OMSA 7.4.0
They have been added to Open Manage Essentials (OME version 2.0.1.2222) and appear to be reporting correctly.
I have noticed that if I go to Manage > Devices, the Server Administrator is not clickable. I can click on the iDRAC but not Server Administrator.
Is this by design or am I missing something?
Many thanks in advance.
John

Hi John,
Thanks for your post. XenServer does not support Server Administrator launch as Server Administrator webserver component is not present. The clickable link for Server Administrator will only be available if web server component is installed/configured on the respective Server.
Let us know if this information helps.
Thanks,
Vijay.

Hello Vijay
Thanks for your answer which makes a lot of sense. Have you got a link on how to install/configure the web component on Xen?
Thanks again.

Hey Rob
Thanks for your reply.
As it happens, you can connect to the OMSA on the XenServer but I had used port 5986 rather than 1311. But, you can't connect on a web browser with https:// :5986 you have to use the OMSA on port 1311 on another server then use Manage Remote Node and point it to :5986 Why is that?
I will test installing OMSA using the default 1311 port but I still don't think it will work.
Kind regards
John

Hi John,
I don't know much about Xen/OMSA, but you might look here:
delltechcenter.com/omsa
It looks like there may be a Xen video, but not sure if it has exactly what you need.
Good luck,
Rob
