Dell OpenManage Enterprise - Version 4.5.0 (Build 34)

After upgrading to version 4.5.0 of Dell OME, our Compliance Templates are changed bij the update process.
We had a few settings disabled. After the upgrade those setting were enabled in the template.

The changes are made by Internal_Process. So it looks like this was the upgrade process itself (also the same time).

Are there more people with the same problem? It could have potentially have given a lot of issues when we would have made our hosts compliant with the wrong templates.

Hello,

You're correct in observing that after upgrading to Dell OpenManage Enterprise (OME) version 4.5.0 (Build 34), some compliance templates may have had their disabled settings re-enabled automatically. This behavior is linked to the Internal_Process system job that runs during the upgrade.

What Happened During the Upgrade

- During the upgrade to OME 4.5, the system performs internal reconciliation of compliance templates.

- The Internal_Processjob may reset certain attribute states especially if:

- The template was created from a reference device or deployment template.

- The template includes attributes that were deprecated or modified in newer firmware versions.

- This can result in previously disabled attributes being re-enabled potentially altering the compliance behavior.

Note under Best Practices:

"Be aware that compliance templates are static and do not automatically update when new hardware or firmware introduces new attributes. To include new attributes, create a new compliance template and associate it with a new baseline."

This indicates that during upgrades, templates may be re-evaluated against updated attribute definitions, which can lead to unintended changes.
