Replace Failed Hard Drive DD640

Is there any special steps to taking when replacing a failed hard drive on DD640 or is it just pull and replace?

I all ready have a replacement disk.  The failed disk is enclosure 1 disk 8

A spare drive did become "in use" once the other drive failed.

Thanks

Verify if the disk is in failed state (disk show state), if not mark it as failed (disk fail enclosure.disk).

Pull out the old disk, wait 1-2 minutes and put in the new disk.

Check if the system detects the new disk (disk show hardware), if not run a "disk rescan" and wait some time.

Check the state of the new disk (disk show state), if it is markes as failed unfail it (disk unfail enclosure.disk).

Hope that helps.

mkeil has a great series of steps to follow.  Pay close attention to the last step (disk unfail enclosure.disk), as many customers don't check to ensure a disk has been added as a spare.
