XPS 13 9310, motherboard replacement, 3rd party SSD?
My XPS XPS 13 9310 died several weeks ago. It is stuck on the boot screen. Will DELL need to replace my third party SSD if I send the laptop to DELL to replace motherboard?
I tried the hard reset. It did not work. I called Dell support line and was told that it is likely a motherboard issue and I need to send the laptop to the repair center to replace the motherboard.
I upgraded the SSD few months ago. If I send the laptop back for repairing motherboard, will DELL also need to replace the thirty party SSD with the OEM SSD?
Can any senior dell warranty expert please clarify this?
The warranty is already expired. I will pay for the repair cost. Really want to control the repair cost.
Thanks and waiting for a positive reply.

Remove and retain the SSD -- do not send anything that wasn't original to the system (you likely won't receive it back). Install the original SSD if possible or leave the slot empty when sending the system.

@ejn63 thank you for the input!
Dell insisted that I needed to include SSSD so that I did. I then got a $500 repair quote including $150 for a 500 GB OEM SSD. I was told it is their policy that they need to restore everything to the 'original' state. I had to file a complaint about my repair. After almost a week back-forth, they finally agreed to replace motherboard without replacing the SSD. Now the laptop is back. It is working perfectly fine. It was my first time to deal with dell repair center. It was not good experience.
