WD19TB, out of warranty, repair?
Hi,
My 2021 Dell Docking Station WD19TB recently started to run the fan at max capacity and it doesn’t stop anymore until it’s unplugged. This happens after 20-30 minutes of operation every single time it’s being used and only unplugging it solves the issue. The docking station is an air conditioned room (72F) far from any other high temperature devices or objects and under standard operation. My Dell laptop connected to it is not even running any softwares on Windows and it still happens. I did some research and my understanding is that this is a well known model issue, there are several thousand complaints about it all over the internet in reviews, videos, etc. My warranty unfortunately expired last year in February. However, for certain electronic devices if there is an issue with them and it’s a manufacturing failure, the warranty lives longer than the standard - in this case 3 years - service warranty. Do I get this right and may I receive information on how to be in touch about fixing this issue? On the support center portal, after entering the service tag I have no other options but call and I prefer writing. I appreciate your attention and look forward to hearing from you.
My best,
Milan

If you reside in an area that has coverage that exceeds the manufacturer warranty, contact whatever local authority handles the issue. Dell is responsible only for covering the device during the warranty.
