No denial letter given

<Violations removed. Read the Forum Code of Conduct. DELL-Admin>

I bought a Dell laptop with a warranty, trusting their name. When the laptop got physically damaged <not by Dell>, I immediately took photos during the warranty period and sent them along with all required details. Instead of honoring the warranty, Dell kept repeating the same scripted excuse: “Damage happened later by user, not covered.”

Even worse, when I asked for a simple denial letter (so I could at least claim warranty from the platform I bought it from), Dell refused to give it. They don’t even have the courage to put their denial in writing. This is not customer service. Dell wastes your money, ignores your proofs, and traps you with technical excuses. Once they have your money, you are left helpless.

The warranty does not cover physical damage to the system - no manufacturer's warranty does.  For that you would have needed insurance (Complete Care).

I faced the exact same issue with my Dell Inspiron. My laptop hinge was damaged and I sent Dell all the proofs — photos taken during the warranty period and even videos. Instead of helping, they kept repeating excuses like “damage happened later.”. When I asked for a denial letter so I could claim warranty through the seller, Dell even refused to provide that. They trap customers like this: no repair, no proof of denial, and no way to claim warranty elsewhere. Basically, your money is gone. This is not just your case or mine. Dell markets warranties but never stands behind them when customers really need help.

Care to share the nature of the damage and how it was caused?

If Dell refuses to give you a letter of refusal you can still record, save or screenshot the refusal via the medium you received it. Accidental damage caused by the user is not covered by warranty, unless you got additional accidental damage coverage.

Damage from Dell design faults should be covered. But these can sometimes be hard to get arranged if there is a disagreement in interpretation if damage is caused by a design fault or not.

For example: A PC with PCI-e slots should not get damaged if you put PCI-e expansion cards in there. Dell or non-Dell. But the card should not be damaged and should be placed with proper care.

Warranty coverage also differs from country to country. In the EU you should first go to where you bought your Dell product for warranty. Your seller is responsible that you get a product conforming to reasonable expectations and provide a warranty on that. (At least 2 years) Manufacturer's warranty is extra. If you bought from Dell directly then Dell provides both your EU consumer warranty and manufacturer's warranty.

Still if you caused the damage yourself then there is no warranty. But perhaps there is insurance.
