Dell 5530, purchased from pawnshop, warranty status?

I'm frustrated with the support experience. Since I bought the Dell device second-hand from a pawn shop, I'm unsure if the warranty still applies? I thought Dell's warranty covered the device itself, regardless of ownership? Given my positive past experiences with Dell's hassle free warranty I'm surprised by the current issue. Can we find a solution? I'm hesitant to discard the device, so let's explore please!
