SVC2020 Getting confuse
Hi All, I encountered a problem when checking my compellent summary report. May I seek for your help on how to understanding each setting below??
Assigned: 6TB to one servers
What I got the report like this for one Volume:
I'm getting confuse on the Total Disk Space, Actual space and Active Space. Would anyone tell me what the meaning of these? Thank you very much!!

Configured will be the total storage you have set for that volume. If you create a 4 TB volume it will show 4 TB under the configured - the green bar will always show active space being used.
Storage used will always show a 'full' bar and is a breakout of how the storage is used. This total can be above the configured space because it takes into account Replay space which can be more than the total volume space.

Thank you for your reply. How about the meaning of Total Disk Space, Actual space and Active Space? Thank you!

>Total Disk space is the total used for that volume which includes data, raid overhead and replay space
>Actual space is the active space plus the replay data (this doesn't include RAID overhead)
>Active space is space used by the data alone, not including RAID overhead or replay space

Hi Mluethye, thank you for your reply. Base on your answer, it should be:
Size of Total Disk space > Size of Actual Disk space > Size of Active Disk space
However, my case is:
Size of Actual Disk space > Size of Active Disk space > Size of Total Disk space
Is it weird on my case? Thank you!

Do you have the volume compressed or set as compressed? That might cause a discrepancy.

Um....I am sure but it seems no option for me to choose to activate / deactivate the compression option. I tried to contact local Dell support. I'm a bit shock that till now no one could explain the detail of above figure...

If you go to the storage tab and click on the volume in question. Once yo udo that right click and click Edit Settings. From the edit settings window there is a compression button and it will either be checked for enabled, or not checked which means disabled.
If it's not compressed then i have no clue why the number is different. Call CoPilot support and they can dig deeper.

The SCv2020 doesnt support compression and also there is no CoPilot support because this product is covered through "standard" ProSupport so be warned when you call the hotline.
