Few Questions related to Remote Instant Replay and Live Volume
1) Is Remote Instant Replay (RIR) always Synchronous?
2) How is it different from Live Volume (LV)? (I know abt the proxy data access allowed in case of Live Volume)
3) In case of RIR is the secondary not visible to the Server?
3) In case of RIR and LV we have primary and a secondary Volumes between them replication is active. Is there some difference between the way they function internally, I meant the life cycle of a write initiated at primary?.
Please let me know if the question are not clear.
Thanks

1) RIR can by sync or async, but must be async for LV
2) LV is really just an add on to RIR to enable access to the volume from either location
3) RIR is only normally visible from the primary site.
4) When running LV, you need to make sure you normally only use the primary paths. There is a significant latency hit if you use all paths (primary and remote) as traffic going to the remote site goes through the remote controllers, back to primary controllers, then back to remote controllers, then back to the host. Essentially, until they swap rolls, the secondary path acts as a proxy to the primary. I hope that is clear enough :)

What I would recommend would be to call The Compellent Copilot in EP at 1-866-397-8673.
