Dell Compellent upgrade from 6.4.5 to 6.5

Hi guys,

I am very new to the Compellent way of doing things and I have been tasked with upgrading the current setup to 6.5

"Upgrade Dell Compellent Storage Center OS from version 6.4.5 to 6.5.20."

In the webclient I have checked for updates and it says there are none? (see attached screenshot)

Any ideas? Apologies I am new to the Dell way of doing things, so I am learning on the fly. The environemet is all set up and using FC

4 controllers 2 active and 2 backup

You need to call support (Copilot) and have them do a health check. Next they will advertise the update for you and when you do a check again it will show up. Once the update are done, you ask them to do another health check. Since it is your first time, I would ask them to stay on the phone with you just so they can update you on what is going on via their secure console session.

Even when the updates are not service effecting, I plan for after hours.

Good luck.

Hello piedthepiper,

When it comes to upgrading the Firmware for your SCOS as Truex stated you need to call Copolit support.  The reason for this is that what copolit will do is to have you do a phone home so that we can review your current state & make sure that there aren’t going to be any issues when upgrading your SCOS.  What Copolit will also do is to upload the files to a site that you can download the firmware along with the step by step guide for upgrading your SCOS from its current version to the latest version that is support for your SC system.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
