Hi,

Do I've to deactivate Lun before creating Remote Mirror when I'm creating for the first time that includes Lun Creation aswell. Can anyone provide any link or Doc to clear my doubts on replication concepts.

No you dont need to Deactivate the lun for creating a remote mirror :

I think you are wanting to ask that do i need to Fracture a lun

  • Fracture - Fracture a secondary image when you do not want MirrorView to copy data from the primary image to that secondary image. I/O can still proceed to the primary image.

  • Deactivate -  Deactivating a mirror will cause reads and writes to the mirror to be rejected. Data will not be written to the primary image and subsequently will not be copied to the secondary image(s).

HI Kishore,

If this is MirrorView replication,  please find the below mentioned Link:

Your question is not clear. When you start Mirrorview, you leave it running. If is Mirrorview Sync, it runs alll the time, constantly updating the mirror. If you're using Miirorview/Asunc, the updates happen on a schedule that you decide. With MV/A, when the update is finished, the update stops.

Deactivate sounds more like snapview. Are you also using Snapshots with Mirrorview? The referenced document above provides answers for using Mirrorview. There is a similar document for using SnapView, also available on PowerLink.
