CX300 Storage processor failure
Hello EMC specialists,
I would like to get your help on a big problem that I have met for the first time :
I have a CX300 system which was fully operational.
I have checked the logs, and I have seen a message that I have not kept, telling that the battery is failed.
I have removed the storage processor and I have replaced the lithium battery, which was completely discharged : 1,2 V for a 3V battery.
After battery replacement, I have verified the voltage on pins, and I have plugged again the storage processor, but now it is unreachable :
At power up, the status LED stays on the phase : 1 flash for 4 seconds.
No activity on drives 0 and 2 for SPA boot.
There is no traffic at all on the serial management bus, and the SP stays not pingable.
I have followed the ESD rules, and the SP was on an antistatic bag when I have changed the battery.
Could you tell me if I have forgotten a specific step, and could you tell me how to restart the system normally ?
Normally I should get :
And this is that I have on SP B :

Hi Raphlou,
I can see that the SP is faulted here… , and you may have to go for a replacement .., you have mentioned that the LED blinking once every 4 seconds, meaning that the Boot sequence got stuck @ BIOS test , which means it a Hardware Failure…

Hi Raphlou,
May I know if you are facing this issue one single SP or with both the SP’s..?

Hello Suman,
I tried with both scenarios.
I have also exchanged the Storage Processors together, and the failure stays on the same SP.
The other SP (previously SPB) is working fine on the A slot, and Navisphere is working, but the other SP is marked empty.
I have continued to double check everything, without success.
When I insert the failed SP (at this time on the B slot) the status LED comes up at 1 blink per 4 seconds (POST) but no traffic at all on serial port, hyperterminal stays blind.
I cannot go to the next step.
My laptop is correctly set, it works on SPA (the SP from B side).
Could you help me with the good procedure to reseat the SP ?
There are several jumpers possibilities on the SP : reset, factory default... a solution ?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards.
